Rockhampton, December 18th
I'm about to catch the ferry to the island of Great Keppel, famed for its
azur waters and bleached white sand which scrunches as you walk on it.
I have been on a cycling mission for the last 5 days since leaving
Brisbane, covering almost 800 km. It's getting hot, and I'm hitting the
road by 6.15am in order to cover 100km before the midday heat. The most
I've done in a day was 170km which was pretty exhausting in 35+c. I've been
camping by the side of the road in rest areas, falling asleep by 8pm
absolutely knackered! Anyway,I feel I deserve a couple of days off before
the next 500km or so to Airlie Beach, and Great Keppel is the perfect
resting place. There's a small hostel and I've just been to the grocer's to
stock up on muesli and pasta!
My plan is to be at Airlie for Xmas. Update for Psion/Ericsson arrived on
the 12th. Thanks for the message on the web site, Serena and all at DHL.
There's a distinct lack of internet cafes around here. It's starting to get
quite remote!
